Error 1001
Symptoms:

During the event, a pop-up error (1001) message appears:

"Sorry, an internal error occurred, please restart the application." The connection icon is red

Cause of the Problem:

Proxy, Firewall, or security settings.

Solution:

  • Check proxy settings:
    • For Microsoft Internet Explorer:
      • For Dial Up Connection:
        To check your proxy settings to ensure they are not the cause of the problem, click on the TOOLS button in your browsers menu bar , in the tools menu, click on INTERNET OPTIONS, now click on the CONNECTIONS tab, then click on SETTINGS and remove the check from the USE A PROXY SERVER and USE AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT boxes. Now close and reopen your browser and restart the login process.

        Please Note: If you reached the session through a panel company website, closing your browser might result in you not being able to reach the session again. If you wish to continue your participation in the session, please copy the URL line before closing your browser and then reopen it and paste the link to the new browser. The link to the session may also be found in your browser's history.

        NOTE – the AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT will not be lost, it is saved, and rechecking the box will restore the previous settings.

      • For a LAN connection:

        IMPORTANT - IF YOU ARE ATTENDING THE SURVEY FROM WORK - DO NOT DISABLE THE PROXY, YOU NEED TO CONSULT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR FIRST.

      • To check your browsers security settings:
        In your browsers menu bar click on the TOOLS button, in the tools menu, click on INTERNET OPTIONS and now click on the SECURITY tab. Make sure that the GLOBE icon on the far left which says “internet” is highlighted. Is your security level set to medium? If not, click on the DEFAULT LEVEL button.
      • Internet Explorer privacy settings (exists only on IE 6):
        Move to the privacy tab, Is it set to medium? If not, click on the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

    • AOL or MSN browsers security:
      Go to start -> settings -> control panel (or: start ->control panel), choose ‘Internet Options’, now click on the SECURITY tab. Make sure that the GLOBE icon on the far left which says “internet” is highlighted. Is your security level set to medium? If not, click the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

    • AOL or MSN browsers privacy:
      If you also have a privacy tab, click on it, Is it set to medium? If not, click the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

  • Refresh the browser window:
  • Re-login:
    After re-logging into the event you will only see current and future questions, and you will not be able to see old questions at all.
