Symptoms: Screen stays on the "please wait" message for a long time.
Cause of the Problem:
Probably a bad connection, but can also be caused by high security settings in the browser, or proxy settings in the work place. The dashboard active X is only 30 k and should take a few seconds to download.
Solution:
- Checking the connection:
- Test the connection to the Internet: Try to reach a different site by your browser. in the address bar of your browser please type in the following address: "WWW.IBM.COM", and press enter. Is the site coming up? If not, you have a bad connection, only disconnecting and reconnecting MIGHT help
- How much time has the download been going on? download should take up to 5 minutes for dial-up connection, and a few seconds for a fast connection. If you are using a Dial-up and less then 5 minutes have passed, you might just have to wait.
- For dial-up connections – check speed:
Double click on the icon of 2 computers in the lower right hand side of your screen, and look at the connection speed is in bps.
If the icon is not there, go to the window you use to disconnect from the Internet and try looking there.
If the connection speed is lower then 14,400 bps (bits per second) this is a slow connection speed. only disconnecting and reconnecting MIGHT help.
