BETTER INSIGHTS. SMARTER DECISIONS. FASTER.
Sorry, a connection error occurred…

Symptoms:

Login does not succeed – a pop-up message appears: “Sorry, a connection error occurred. Please check the connection to the Internet. If the problem persists, close the current window and restart the application.”

Cause of the Problem:

The dashboard application has trouble reaching our servers, usually bad proxy settings, firewall program, or bad connection.

Solution

  • Make sure the URL is correct:
Make sure you click the URL from the invitation you received for this event. Have you clicked a URL from an invitation to a previous event?

  • Check connection to the Internet:
Try to reach a different site using your browser. In the address bar of your browser please type the following address: "WWW. IBM. COM", and press enter. Is the site coming up? if it does not, you have a bad connection, only disconnecting and reconnecting MIGHT help.

  • Restart the login flow:
Close the Dashboard application and click the URL from your Invitation again
  • Check proxy settings
    • For Dial Up Connection: To check your proxy settings to ensure they are not the cause of the problem, go to START-> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL (Windows XP: START ->CONTROL PANEL), choose ‘INTERNET OPTIONS’, now click on the CONNECTIONS tab, click on SETTINGS and remove the check from the USE A PROXY SERVER and USE AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT boxes. Now close and reopen your browser and restart the login process.
NOTE – the AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT will not be lost, it is saved, and rechecking the box will restore the previous settings.

    • For a LAN connection: To check your proxy settings to ensure they are not the cause of the problem, go to START-> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL (Windows XP: START ->CONTROL PANEL ), choose ‘INTERNET OPTIONS’, now click on the CONNECTIONS tab, click on LAN SETTINGS, check if the USE A PROXY SERVER or USE AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION SCRIPT boxes are checked IMPORTANT - IF YOU ARE ATTENDING THE SURVEY FROM WORK - DO NOT DISABLE THE PROXY, YOU NEED TO CONSULT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR FIRST.

  • Check for a firewall or antivirus program
